Who we are: JM Sports Ltd (“JM Sports”, “we”, “our”, “us”) provides youth basketball training programmes in New Zealand.

1. What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website jmsports.co.nz, online forms, bookings, email communications, and in-person enrolments.

2. The information we collect

  • Enquiry & booking details: parent/guardian name, email, phone, child’s name, age/school year, programme and venue preferences, notes you provide (e.g., goals or questions).

  • Health & safety information: medical conditions or allergies you choose to share for safe participation.

  • Payment details: if you pay by bank transfer, we receive payer name, reference and amount via our bank statement (we do not store card data).

  • Website usage: IP address, device/browser, pages viewed, and cookies (see Section 8).

  • Media (optional): photos/videos captured at sessions if you give consent.

3. Why we collect it (lawful purposes)

  • To respond to enquiries and manage bookings.

  • To deliver coaching safely (including health information).

  • To take payment and maintain accounting records.

  • To send important service messages (schedule changes, venue updates).

  • With your consent: marketing updates about terms, camps, or news (you can unsubscribe anytime).

  • To improve our website and services (analytics).

4. Children’s privacy

We enrol children into our programmes only with the consent of a parent/guardian. Please do not send us a child’s personal information unless you are their parent/guardian. You may request access, correction or deletion of your child’s information (see Section 10).

5. Sharing your information

We share personal information only when necessary to operate our services, for example with:

  • Website/email providers (e.g., WordPress/WooCommerce/SMTP services) to deliver forms and notifications.

  • Our bank to reconcile payments.

  • Service partners (e.g., venue operators or first-aid providers) where needed for safety.
    We do not sell your personal information. Some providers may process data outside New Zealand; we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable safeguards.

6. Retention

  • Enquiry records: up to 12 months.

  • Customer/booking and payment records: up to 7 years (for business and tax purposes).

  • Health information: only as long as needed for programme delivery and safety.

  • Media assets: until consent is withdrawn or the content is retired.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information (encrypted connections, access controls, least-privilege access). No method is 100% secure; please contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use.

8. Cookies & analytics

Our site may use cookies to remember preferences and measure site performance (e.g., Google Analytics). You can block cookies in your browser; some features may not work as expected. If we use third-party embeds (e.g., maps or video), those providers may set their own cookies.

9. Marketing messages

We send marketing only with your consent. You can unsubscribe via any email or by contacting us. Service messages (e.g., schedule changes) are not marketing and will still be sent as needed for your booking.

10. Your rights (NZ Privacy Act 2020)

You can access and correct your personal information, ask us to delete information we no longer need, or complain about how we handle it. We’ll respond within a reasonable time.

We may update this policy at any time. The “Effective date” will show the latest version.
