Where Game Day Energy Meets Weekly Progress!

Our Saturday Programme at Birkenhead College (North Shore) runs in three streams so every player trains at the right level. Sessions blend structured coaching, small-sided games, and bilingual support (English/Chinese) to build real, on-court improvement.

U10 TEAM RED — FOUNDATIONS & FIRST GAMES (10:30am–12:30pm)
  • Who it’s for: Newer players (around age 8 – 10) or within one year of basketball experience.
  • Goals: Love the game, learn the rules, build coordination and confidence, and play simple team basketball.
  • Skills: Dribble control and moves (crossover, in-and-out, between-the-legs, behind-the-back), layups and finishing, passing & catching, spacing and basic cuts, intro to 3v3 → 5v5 game play.

U15 TEAM ELITE — ADVANCED & COMPETITION PREP (12:30–2:30pm)
  • Who it’s for: Committed players (around age 12 – 15) already in school teams or with long-term training.
  • Goals: Sharpen technique and footwork, improve decision-making under pressure, strengthen team concepts and conditioning, prepare for trials and NZ age-group competitions.
  • Skills: Ball-handling under pressure, finishing package & footwork, shooting form & range, pick-and-roll reads, off-ball movement & spacing, team defense & contact drills, transition offense/defense.

U12 TEAM BLACK — BUILD & COMPETE (2:30–4:30pm)
  • Who it’s for: Players with ~1+ year experience or school-team background (around age 10 – 12).
  • Goals: Link handle to finish, strengthen passing & team play, and raise shooting consistency.
  • Skills: Dribble-to-layup combos (one-foot/two-foot), give-and-go & drive-and-kick, catch-and-shoot mechanics, close-outs & help principles, structured 5v5 concepts.

1. FOUNDATIONS — BALL-HANDLING, LAYUPS & GAME BASICS

Refine dribble control with cross, in-and-out, intro between-the-legs and behind-the-back, plus footwork, layups and purposeful passing. Learn court spacing, simple rules and 5v5 small-sided play—building confidence and fluency.

2. DEVELOPMENT — COMBO MOVES, PASS-CUT & SHOOTING

Tighten handles under light pressure, link dribble-to-finish, strengthen layup footwork and shooting form. Add pass-and-cut, give-and-go and transition decisions, reinforcing team play and consistent execution.

3. ADVANCED — GAME IQ, TEAM SYSTEMS & COMP PREP

Sharpen technical details and decision-making: ball-screen reads, advantage creation, off-ball movement & spacing, and on-ball/rotation defense. Integrate conditioning and leadership while preparing for school/rep trials and higher-level weekend competition.
